A Partial Solution To The Housing Dilemma

Knowing damn well that she hasn’t the ability to answer a simple question, you nimrods voted Chow in. She Struggles to answer the simplest of questions let alone come up with solutions.

You are more than likely the same Nimrods who voted for Ford because his brother was controversial.

Or for Trudeau because he has nice hair.

Ford and Chow can build 100 thousand homes. It will not help one single homeless person.

Think about it  … think some more … figured it out?

It’s simple.

If a homeless person could afford to obtain a mortgage and down payment to  buy a house, would they be “homeless?

What we need is for the city and the province to donate all of their vacant, deteriorating properties to organizations such as ‘The Neighborhood Group’, ‘Habitat for Humanity‘, or any such organization.

These organizations have been attempting to obtain these properties for years.

Making little headway as the buildings deteriorate further.

There are numerous agencies that are willing to develope and renovate these abandoned buildings.

Converting them into actual ‘affordable housing‘.

Housing that will be geared to income.

Housing that would be disabled accessible and user friendly.

The Neighbourhood Group owns and operates my residence. As a resident here I can testify that this site should be used as a model for solving the housing of seniors.

Those who are familiar with 11 Coatsworth Crescent can testify to the uniqueness of this residence.

It is a “community“, not just a building.

Designed for seniors 59 years old and above.

There are many supports on location to assure the residents receive quality healthcare support and services.

There are no other residences in the province such as  this one.

It stands alone in it’s glory.

It should be used as a template for the construction of many more similar seniors housing.

It is not a “nursing home” or social services housing.

It is a “home.

A blend of independent living and assisted living.

Each resident has 24 hour access to PSW’s, social workers and a large variety of community services and supports.

Some residents,  such as myself, are fully independent, others have access to care and support on an ‘as needed‘ basis. While others who are incapacitated have twenty four hour care and support.

There is access to a communal tea room/activity centre that also serves as a “community centre“.

The powers that be could learn much about senior care from The Neighborhood Group and their approach to seniors care

If the Group had access to more viable properties that they could and are very willing to develop, then it would greatly reduce the large number of seniors being unnecessarily warehoused in long term care and medical facilities.

Seniors that are quite capable of independent living with in house community supports and safeguards.

This is one solution for the senior sector.

There are literally hundreds of vacant properties that if offered to the proper organizations could easily and quicky be converted to housing that those on social assistance and low income workers could afford.

Presently,  anyone on Social Services or the Disability Support Program CANNOT afford to rent even an illegal room, let alone a proper home.

Building middle class unaffordable houses will only benefit the “middle class”.

Ford knows this.

Chow might understand it.

Most of all, you know it!

The politicians are using the homeless epidemic as a quick answer to all the problems.

Mention healthcare – they mention ‘housing‘.

Mention rising food cost – they mention ‘housing‘

Mention rising crime – they mention ‘housing‘.

They mention and they mention, but they are reneging on taking actual action.

Do not be fooled by the overcrowded hostels and shelters in the province.

They are overcrowded due to the federal,  provincial and municipal governments filling them with the huge volumes of refugees.

They opened the gates to unlimited numbers of refugees without firstly assuring that there would be homes for them to actually live in.

By doing so they forced our low income citizens further down the ladder society.

Forced to live in tents in public parks and under bridges and viaducts like some macabre modern day trolls.

Their lives plagued with drug addiction and abuse.

Robbed of their self esteem by the same people who have been elected and expected to assure them that they matter and are deserving of a better life.

Speak out people!

We are their only hope –  their only hope!

Don’t put their lives in the hands of Trudeau, Ford or Chow.

Their lives are already in their hands and look where that has gotten them.

Write, email, call and demand that the Province and Municipalities free up their vacant and forgotten properties.

Demand that they assist the willing organizations such as The Neighborhood Group, Habitat For Humanity and other such organizations of obtaining viable properties.

Assist them in doing so with the cost of re-purposing these properties.

Does this not make more sense than allowing these properties to degrade further?

More sense than demolishing them and taking years to build yet more unaffordable “condos”?

We already have enough ivory towers for the rich and well to do.

We need to start speaking out for those who voices are not being heard

Court still prohibits marijuana possession

Court still prohibits marijuana possession Shannon Kari, National Post Published: Thursday, December 11, 2008 The prohibition against simple possession of marijuana has been upheld by an Ontario Superior Court judge, in a closely watched case that stemmed from the prosecution of Clifford Long, who was arrested by Toronto police with $40 worth of cannabis. Justice Eva Frank overturned a decision by a lower court judge last year that found there was no valid restriction against possession of cannabis because of flaws with the country's medical marijuana regulations. The lower court decision led to confusion about prosecuting simple possession cases in Ontario, said the federal government in its arguments before Judge Frank earlier this year. The federal Crown argued that the present policies of Health Canada have resulted in enough marijuana for the nearly 2,000 people with medical certificates to possess the drug. Judge Frank agreed with the arguments made by federal government lawy

Demons Of Guilt

Menu The LightHouse Dann Verner Some say my that my life has been a tragic sad tale. Only from their view point. Having lived through my life I can say it has been a damn good ride. I fear not dying for to die is final. To be waiting for that one final jolt of pain is extremely difficult to deal with. DEMONS OF GUILT This is a reflection of the pain I am going through as I finish my son’s biography. Delaney Jordan McLean Verner, 29 years old. Jordan “Bubba” Verner On Christmas morning 2019, hung himself in a town called Black Diamond . An obscure town in the underbelly of Alberta, Canada. He and his wife of 12 years, Katelyn had gone their to start a new life. Hoping to escape the homelessness rut and street life they were “Groundhog Day “  living on the streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A dream that collapsed and left them stranded, freezing and hungry. Only to have Alberta Social Services rudely tell him and his wife to “Go home”. By any way they could. But, a big “but”….. Adding

My Opinion Regarding the Israeli/Hamas War

Listen to this episode on Spotify or wherever you stream podcasts. How can it be all right for one side of a war ( Israel)  to bomb innocent civilians, but not okay for the other side ( Hamas)  to do so? Common sense would tell you that the majority of the people living in the Gaza strip are not supporters of the barbarism of the Hamas. They would much rather be living peaceful lives. Not living under the reign of fear from the Hamas. Largest part of the Gaza strip problem is that if the Hamas were to allow the innocent to leave, where could they go? Israel? Egypt? The majority of the Palestinian people are in the same boat as the average citizen of Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria. They are labeled and condemned by the actions of their governing leaders. The terrorist government controls every and all aspects of their everyday lives. You can not believe that all Palestinian citizens want to go to war. Their hands are tied and their voices are silenced by their leaders If they were to spea
