Will Our Postal Service Fall Victim To Modern Times?

Image
I must wonder if the Postal Workers and Canada Post management realize that the longer the strike lasts the greater the risk and chances are that our Postal Service will become defunct. Currently, Canada Post is losing ten million dollars daily. TEN MILLION PER DAY!!! THINK ABOUT THIS  .... This amount was pre-strike. So how much is the Corporation losing during the strike??? I understand the plight of the workers. I more than understand the position the strike is putting small businesses into. Many who once were loyal to our Postal system are now securing other sources to deliver their products. These businesses are not going to go back to using Canada Post once the labour disputes are settled. The huge courier companies have overtaken the parcel delivery industry. They are very efficient and the majority of the time they deliver our parcels far faster than our Post Office ever could. And therein lies the problem. My fear is that this current strike may well be the perverbu...

Words Of Wisdom From My Favourite Actor Of All Time, Christopher Walken.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1m9sQno0CZ/?igsh=cGdibzluc2EyeGI2 Words of wisdom from my favourite actor of all time, Christopher Walken. Christopher Walken is, in my opinion, one of the last true Hollywood iconic Kings. He has that “ gentlemen’s ” touch that can only be found in the original bad boys of film. Guys such as Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Landon and such. They were all original stars of screen and television. They had respect. They had morals. They were Gentlemen in every sense of the word. They respected their craft and their fellow performers. Christopher Walken has been my number one favourite for as long as I can remember. Not only is he a fantastic actor but he also is a very well educated man. His demeanor demands you take knowledge from his wisdoms and words. Personally,  I respect him for his fantastic acting skills. Most of all, I find his real life persona, his eloquent manners, his intelligence and his off screen personality a posit...

Here is a reblog I wrote last year regarding The Neighbourhood Group and What they Do For The Community

The pandemic taught us many lessons and spotlighted numerous serious flaws in the machine we have labeled, " Society ." With great embarrassment it opened our eyes to the incompetence and neglect our Elders living in many of Canada's " Long Term Care " Residences, are being subjected to. I was appalled by what I learned via the various media outlets and daily newscasts as the pandemic wreaked havoc on the very lives of our beloved Elders. I was ashamed and brokenhearted when we reduced the inhumanity of what was taking place by making it a daily " statistic" on the news. The number of deaths in the residences was becoming a lead story on each and every news outlet and each new report grew more horrific. We should be ashamed of what we allowed to happen in these homes. I am sure many people are. People who do care and genuinely want to change the way we are " warehousing " our Elders. People like the devoted staf...

He dances, you know For life he to know. He dances, you know Paying a life’s toll. He dances, you know Forever on he go. He dances, you know To rectify his soul.

Black Diamond: Bubba's Story

Delaney ‘Jordan’ McLean Verner Born September 11, 1990 -  Died December 25, 2019 Happy Heavenly 33rd Birthday my Son. On Christmas morning 2019, my son Jordan took his life in a town called Black Diamond , Alberta. A part of me died with him that day and a part of me dies each day since. Time heals nothing. It merely teaches us how to hide the sorrow and the pain. IF YOU ARE FEELING SUICIDAL OR IN A DARK PLACE,  PLEASE REACH OUT TO SOMEONE OR TO A CRISIS LINE. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO CARES AND WILL HELP. SOMETIMES IT IS A STRANGER OR THE LAST PERSON YOU WOULD EXPECT TO HELP. SUICIDE DESTROYS NOT ONLY YOUR LIFE , BUT THE LIVES OF EVERYONE WHO KNOWS YOU. SUICIDE SOLVES NOTHING! HERE IS THE LINK TO HIS BIOGRAPHY https://a.co/d/atXBtP1

Final Preparations For Jordan’s Celebration of Life

Image
Final Preparations For Jordan’s Celebration of Life February the first is just about here. A day I dread.   The day my wife, Jennifer, my oldest son, Randy, my youngest son, Dakota must say our farewell   to our son and their brother. For those who have asked, here are the details and location of the Service and Reception. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 4 PM – 7 PM at the Canadian Legion Hall Number 73, 2 Robinson Avenue, Toronto,  (Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road) Anxiety is high for the family. I am worried for my wife. She has been staying strong as she can. Yet, I know how she feels inside. I know she is hiding ninety-nine percent of her pain. She is brave that way. Forget not that she is also watching me slowly deteriorate. Everyday wondering if this is the day Dann passes from his cancer? A father’s love is like no other, also, A strong genetic companionship of the Alpha and his Beta’s. ` Daddy Know`s Best ` so follow your Father and learn to be a good ma...

Surviving A Son’s Christmas Day Suicide

Image
I am humbled by the outpouring of support, Prayers and love my family has received since Jordan’s suicide. Jordan’s ashes are home with us now. I had hoped this would ease our sorrow. It did not. It made the horror of picturing my 29 year old son, my second born, my baby. …. hanging in a strangers laundry room. A family who had just extended their charitable souls and taken in my son and his wife so as they were not homeless, freezing and stranded in a town called Black Diamond, Alberta. On Christmas morning. Forever shattering the concept of Christmas cheer forevermore. Not only for my family, but also my daughter-in-laws and the family that had taken them in. And many more lives that Jordan in his short life. I will never be the same. I have a hollowness deep in my heart. No parent should outlive their child. Especially a father who has spent, and still is, battling late stage, non treatable Squamous Cell Carcinoma. I have defied death for over 15 months now and t...

Suicide Is Not “PAINLESS”

Image
Christmas will never exist in my life after this year. My son, Delaney Jordan, committed suicide yesterday. December 25th, 2019. Left to Right:Me,Jordan,Randy Left to Right: Jordan, Randy and I. He and his wife, Katelyn, decided to relocate from Toronto, Ontario to Black Diamond, Alberta. They had made the decision to start a new life in a new province with new friends. Alberta was not good to them at all. When they first arrived they did their best to try and secure employment. Kate succeeded by finding a part time job at a subway sandwich shop. Social Services absolutely refused to help them in any way. Even at Christmas. They were actually quite rude to both Katelyn and Jordan. This led to depression for both of them. They could not believe that a government agency could care less that they were homeless and possibly going to freeze to death on the street. They had made plans to scrimp and save until they had enough to return to their native Toronto. Perhap...
