Ontario’s poor excuse of a Premier,  The Dishonorable Kathleen Wynne,  released her budget yesterday. Everyone is excited and patting themselves on the back over “PHARMACARE”.  I have a problem with this. Firstly,  it is aimed at YOUTH!!!! UNDER THE AGE OF TWENTY-FIVE.  What is wrong with that? Well, are our youth so medicated and traumatized  that they need help buying their medication?   Is it not bad enough that we have many of them already saying they need their “medicine” (medical marijuana) and are surviving on welfare or the Ontario Disability Support Program?  BUT SECONDLY  ……. WHAT ABOUT OUR GROWING SENIOR POPULATION?  Common sense would dictate that it is they who need the assistance.  The younger professional welfare recipients are already covered by their drug card issued under the Social Services Act. People of Ontario - or rather I should say, "Poor, elderly or disabled people of Ontario, SPEAK UP!!! And for the love of whomever or whatever you perceive your gods to be, please, please, please get up and VOTE next election. NOTHING SHALL CHANGE UNTIL WE UNITE!!! Look at this: How does a single father, like myself, survive healthily and support, nurture, clothe, feed and raise a teenage son when I am paying $11,000 a year on rent, $1,500 per year hydro and trying my best to give my child a good life when my disability pension is a mere $18,000? How? I cannot afford to take transit and having a walking disability means I am grounded at home. I cannot afford to buy clothes or shoes for my child unless we go without food. I cannot afford cable tv.  Our income goes up a mere one percent yearly, yet, our rent goes up twice that amount. I will not even get into the hydro fiasco, lest to say it gives me much stress. This one is for the politicians: I have not heard one single word from  Kathleen Wynne , Tim Hudak or whatshername, oh yea, Andrea Horwath regarding any plans to help the elderly or those on disability.  Bear in mind people that the higher the minimum wage - the higher the prices of everyday items and the cost of living in general. Ontario Disability Support Program only raises the income supplement by 1% every year - while the average rent goes up by 3.25% - that alone leaves t he disabled with a minus 2.25%. Many parents on ODSP skip meals so they will have that meal for their children. I understand the push to get more jobs and help the middle income, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY NONE OF YOU ARE EVEN MENTIONING THE POOR OR ELDERLY. SO, I ASK OF YOU, "WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?"
