Mother Mary Comes To Me

“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.” Five out of the seven times I have been legally dead I encountered my mother, Mary. What is so coincidentally strange about this is that all my life – since the very first time I heard Let It Be, I always shed a tear as soon as the first chord was played. I was twelve when I first met my mother. Then ten years later I met her for the second time, only to lose her the next year via murder at the hands of her alcoholic knife wielding boyfriend. As devastating as this was, my life was changed that day ……. the horrific reality of watching Mom lay in intensive care carved up like a suckling pig drove all the violence from my soul.  The Creators work in mysterious ways.  It was then that I decided to change my lifestyle. A laying down of arms, so-to-speak. Looking back I now know that this was the birth of The LightHouse – Walking With Dann. Although, I was ...

Across My Universe

So, I pleasured my senses by watching "Across The Universe" for the twentieth time. As usual, I had tears roll down my cheeks, at certain points. Emotion. Emotion. Emotion. Brought on by the mystical lyrics of Masters Lennon and McCartney. Or perhaps not.....perhaps not. Perhaps brought on by my memories of the Cultural Revolution I was blessed to live in and through during my formable years. The frontal mass of the Army of Peace. It amazes me that a simple, poetic, well thought written song or, rather, a collection of songs, can bring forth such emotional thought processes in so great a number of souls. Mankind can never witness a feat as this again. Because they have surpassed the simplicity of the message. Ninety nine percent of modern day music carries little or no meaning (other then "m...

Music as a Universal Language

Through all the ages mankind has used lyrics and music to express their feelings, wants and current affairs. Despite the insistent repeated messages of all the bands and individual musicians throughout the sixties, society chose not to heed the warnings. Now, forty years later, we have realized that those warnings were quite well founded. Whether it was the Beatles, Bob Dylan or whoever, their message was the same. "Give peace a chance ". They attempted to teach us that this beautiful planet was meant to be "shared" in a unison of peace and oneness. Yes, music is a universal language and in my opinion the greatest language mankind could ever devise. Spoken languages and differential dialects become one - the rhythms and lyrics can unite two totally opposite societal bands and throughout the duration all sides can dance to the same beat. So, let our modern day minstrels bring on the "noise" and let us all become "Third Eye Sighted...
