Since we arrived we have systematically forced them onto reservations, forced them to hand over their children to be placed in horrific “Residential Schools ” and deprived them of the basic needs and rights that they deserved . These torturous residential schools existed from the 1820’s until the closure of the last so-called “school” in 1996. Yes, you read that correctly – 1996. During the course of the school’s existence it is estimated that 150,000 Aboriginal children died at the hands of the clergymen, Nuns and diseases .
