My next battle via my blogs I am going to bring awareness to the NECESSITY of all diabetics across Canada and their plight of trying to pay for very expensive test strips. I am positive that if a study were to be done it would show that supplying the strips would be far less cheaper than the cost of hospitalization and emergency treatment of those not financially able to pay for them. They are as important as a pace maker or any life saving device.
It isn’t like a bandage – it is a life and death necessity. My elderly neighbour has been in the hospital for three days now because she ran out of strips and didn’t have enough to buy more. I wish she would have told me because we all would have chipped in to buy her some. She is not doing too well.
I believe only Ontario did partially pay for them.
I can only imagine how many diabetics suffer horribly due to this.
THEY SHOULD BE FREE FOR ALL DIABETICS IN ALL OF CANADA.
If a study were done I truly believe that it would be far cheaper for the government to supply them rather than the enormous cost of hospitalization due to not having them.
If we could somehow get our smiling faced Prime Minister to actually come visit Canada we may be able to discuss and possibly get him to do something for the MANY diabetics who are not in the position to buy such a desperately needed life saving tool.
Think about this …….
We supply free syringes to junkies.
Heck, we even supply free Methadone to them!
Drop in centers here in Toronto supply free crack pipes, screens and condoms – but diabetics must buy their needles and strips!!!
A drug addict CHOOSES to do drugs. Do not try to tell me they don’t. I HAVE DONE DRUGS FOR FIFTY OF MY 59 YEARS.
A DIABETIC HAS A LEGITIMATE AFFLICTION.
IF ANYONE SPOTS OUR PRIME MINISTER TAKING A SELFIE HERE,ACTUALLY ON CANADIAN SOIL PLEASE ASK HIM WHY.
(I am going to do some research and blog more about this.)
PLEASE, WRITE, TEXT, EMAIL AND ASK YOUR LOCAL MP’S AND MPP’S “WHY IS THIS?
