If at night I do so sleep, is it so my heart may weep?
And come the dawning of the morn does your absence make me forlorn?
Once you walked by my side. Of love we talked with ill feelings aside.
For many days a love we shared. We spoke of feelings well cared.
Darkness stole from me your Light. My tears fall into the night.
Still I feel your hand in mine. Remembering your smile devine.
When you fell into the final sleep, my very soul began to weep.
Time, they say, heals all. Why, then, does this pain still call.
A father believes he knows what’s best. Never thinking his child to finally rest.
And now each day comes and goes. A parent’s pain causes such woe.
There will come a time we do unite. Till then I shall cry into the night.
