Many people have the belief that Americans are well liked around the world. This is not true.
My older Brother had moved from Canada to Switzerland with his Swiss born wife. I noticed that he always wore some type of Canadian symbol, a pin or perhaps a t-shirt.
I complimented him for his Canadian pride and was astounded by his reply. He told me that because they traveled all over the world it was more of a ‘safety measure’ than anything else.
He explained that if not for his public display of the Canadian flag he often would be mistaken as an American. Servers in restaurants and stores would often be rude and service would be slow.
But, wearing a Canadian pin or whatever the same people would be eager to please and cheerful to deal with.
So, no, Americans are not as well liked as they lead you to believe. I have learned through various people that much of the world perceives Yankees as arrogant and aggressive.
Many spoke how America always puts itself into the politics of other nations. Whether invited or not. Their close allegiance with Israel is one of the most mentioned.
Which brings us to Trump.
He has already told the world that he will not honour the World Court’s warrants for the arrest of Netanyahu.
He has stated numerous times that he “will stop the war in Gaza in 24 hours”.
Bear in mind that the United States and Israel have been bedfellows since 1941.
That they are supplying the very bombs being used to slaughter innocent noncombatant civilians in Gaza.
So his statement can clearly be interpreted as he would use American military to finish what Israel started 80 some years ago.
(The present situation in Gaza is not a new thing. Israel has been systematically slaughtering Palestinians for over eight decades.)
This is something we all are well aware of. Mainly because our governments have done little to stop the genocidal slaughter.
On top of all this Trump has threatened Canada’s economics with his 25 percent tariffs. Stating America doesn’t need Canada but Canada needs the States.
He has neglected to explain to the American people how such sanctions will affect them.
He neglects to explain why he is willing to destroy an over 100 years of partnership and trade.
Trumps callous remarks about Canada becoming the 51st ‘state’ has created a growing dissention towards Americans among my fellow Canadians. Especially when he stated he will take us over economically instead of military.
One may take that as a threat to our national security.
Add to that the threats to Greenland and Denmark and you can then understand why many nations dislike the States.
Come Tuesday morning Trump states that he is taking the restraints off of ICE and is going to begin MASS DEPORTATIONS.
With little regard for the children whose parents are illegals but the children are American born. We already witnessed the horrors of a similar situation when the Covid pandemic was happening.
Personally I love the average American person. I am sincere about this. I have many friends stateside.
However!
I have a strong dislike for the rednecks of the MAGA crowd.
There lays no malice in my heart towards any American with the exception of Rump and his redneck brigade of conspiracy theorists.
In short, I am worried for what tomorrow has in store for not only the American people but also the whole world.
I will never understand how he got re-elected.
Or has not had to be held accountable for his actions that led to his becoming a convicted felon but received no punishment.
I certainly see Trump becoming America’s first ‘Dictator’. I see their democracy being divided more each day.
What I do not see is the majority of nations wanting to deal with Trump.
Tomorrow will tell.
Perhaps it is possible to “Make America Great Again”.
All they would have to do is give the Aboriginal people THEIR country back.
(This is my personal opinion and you are welcome to share it with me. Or not. It is up to you. )
