If I were a conspiracy or religious theorist, I would believe that these are the end of days for humanity as we know it to be.
Currently, there are many conflicts and political unrest taking place globally.
As of May 2024, according to the statistics at:
I quote:
“Today, there are over 120 armed conflicts around the world, involving over 60 states and 120 non-state armed groups.“
“The majority of these armed conflicts are of a non-international character, the number of which has tripled since the turn of the millennium.”
I find that extremely disheartening.
I would venture to say that the number has grown exponentially.
Adding in countries like Yemen, or Somalia, or the numerous conflicts Israel has brought to the table. (They appear to be in conflict with everyone including themselves.)
These are just but a few.
Only a fool would not believe that it wouldn’t take much to start a world war.
The third and “final” war.
“Final” because it would be a global war like no other.
More than likely it would end via “first strike” or “retaliatory” nuclear exchanges.
And “Pop goes the weasel”.
In a matter of mere minutes life as mankind was accustomed to would end.
Abruptly!
History will repeat itself and mankind will borrow from the ways of simpler, but difficult, days long past.
Candle makers and farmers will be an integral component to society’s rehabilitation and rebuild.
In the days of future past, mankind did not learn from it’s serious trials and and tribulations.
Society has a tendency to make the same mistakes and errors in judgment time after time.
Which leads me to ask,
“How’s that working out?”
Perhaps the failure was due to man’s inherent desire for wealth, dominance, greed and superiority over their neighbours.
Or maybe we are just a bunch of destructive arses ..…
I am inclined to favour the latter.
Why is it that I hear a little voice reciting:
“Hit me once, shame on you; hit me twice shame on me. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”?
It’s hard to admit that I am a part of an arrogant and greedy species.
Yet, here I am.
Slow dancing in a burning world.
