I do not understand the thinking behind car manufacturers in this modern times.
On a good day the average driver is frightening. Now, we have these cars with more camera's than the royal wedding. Sensors that cause the driver to have a false sense of security.
May be that I am just too ancient. Maybe not.
I cannot fathom the logic behind the need for a 'Blind spot sensor'. To me it will lead to lazy drivers who no longer take that millisecond to glance over their shoulder and properly check their blind spot.
What if the sensor malfunctions?
Then we have the 'parking assist' - WTF! If you cannot park you should not be in the drivers seat.
Add to this the newest doohickey - 'steering assist'. I am sure you have seen the commercial where the lady states, as she clicks yet another button, "Straight up the middle Big Guy?"
Again I say if you cannot drive in a straight line please, please take a bus!!!!
Next we have the 'back up camera's'. Personally, I have almost been run over many times in shopping mall parking lots by idiots who are glued to the seven-inch screen instead of just looking about their vehicle and backing out properly. Yes, I agree that these cameras are a useful tool. IF USED PROPERLY! But, humans are very lazy by nature. These devices give them a false sense of security. Few drivers understand that you still have to actually LOOK in conjunction with them. Even though in small print it tells you to be 'aware of your surroundings'.
Yep, I feel safe walking down my street or chancing a stroll through any parking lot.
AND DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ABOUT WHERE IN THE NAME OF ZEUS THE ASHTRAYS HAVE GONE. If I am going to be in a vehicle with a dummy driver I need to have a cigarette.
JUST SAYING ...................................
