Results of My Appointment At Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Today

Here’s the outcome of today’s appointment with my treatment team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre …
I have to go through a bunch of tests next week.
They are leery about removing the trach until they see if the scar tissue has gotten worse over the years.
They also want to make sure that I do not have any serious anasarca attacks. (Which I am still having bi-weekly small scale attacks.)
The anasarca attacks are why I need the trach in the first place.
When I had attacks my throat would swell a dangerous amount. To the point I could not breath or make a sound
They changed my trach to a larger size.
They want me to try to keep it corked as much as possible for a month.
If I can tolerate it corked and my oxygen levels stay above 95 percent they may be able to finally remove it.
Although there has also been numerous other factors that may prevent decannalization.
Damages from radiation therapy and numerous periods on life support.
They also think that I will not be able to speak with out it because of the scar tissue from when I had my throat cut in the 1980’s, the neck surgery in 1999 and then the Squamous Cell Carcinoma in 2018.
It is what it is.
I will have to deal with the outcome no matter what.
No sense getting worried, mad or sad.
Like the great comedian, George Carlin once said to me ...
“REALITY – WHAT A CONCEPT!”
