 Well Campers,

The best advice this old LightHouse can give those who are still enjoying the benefits of youth would be,

“Young Bloods, …

“As you are walking down the street, take a look around.”

“Paying close attention to what the majority of people are doing as they ‘walk’.

“How many of them are walking down the street without taking their eyes off their devices screens?”

Often, while I am walking my dogs, I witness people, literally, walk blindly into telephone poles, stop signs, garbage cans and each other.

I have actually seen a person walk out into rush hour traffic and struck by a car.

(Thankfully, the injuries they received were serious but not life threatening.)

I cannot count the number of times someone has freaked out on me because I shouted a warning when they were about to step on or trip over my precious Princesses Ruffles and Pringles.

I honestly don’t understand how youth can recognize each other.

Near as I can tell they recognize each other’s hairstyle. They never see each other’s face, just the tops of their heads.

Future neurological surgeons will be overwhelmed with patients in need of cervical surgery to repair the long term damage from decades of having constantly bent their necks to stare at a screen.

So Campers and Camperettes,

“Hold your head up, hold your head up, hold your head high.”

Whatever you are watching while walking will still be available to view when you reach your destination …

“One distracted misstep in the wrong direction could end with tragically reaching your ‘Final Destination.”
