On Christmas Morning, 2019 my son “Delaney Jordan McLean Verner” lost his lifelong battle with mental health issues and addictions.
He usually went by his middle name, “Jordan”.
To family he was “Bubba”
Hence me titling his biography,
“Black Diamond: Bubba’s Story”
The reasons for their predicament do not matter.
WHAT HAPPENED CERTAINLY DOES
Bubba was homeless, stranded in a small town in Southern Alberta called “Black Diamond”.
A few days before Christmas, a couple of “Good Samaritans” took him and his common law wife in.
A couple with two kids, all of which had good and kind hearts.
In the early morning hours of Christmas morning Bubba went into their laundry room and hung himself.
The couple’s two children discovered him.
Christmas will never be be the same for those children, nor for us.
Telling his story was necessary for two reasons.
The first was to alleviate my pain and lessen my sorrow.
Truth be told, it failed in that regard.
It did help somewhat but there is no “lessening” sorrow such as this.
The second reason was Jordan’s story must be heard.
Every child’s service needs to hear what happens to youth brought up in “broken” child systems.
Jordan fell through every crack in those “Child Services” Systems!
It’s all in his biography.
All proceeds from the sale of which go to suicide awareness and prevention programs.
Available on Amazon and Kindle. Here’s the link: https://a.co/d/a9vYxTY
The main reason I sat to write this post was to show the world a clip that speaks volumes.
Five digital seconds that show all of my Bubba’s personality.
Here it is ……
Or perhaps this one of a younger Bubba ….
Or this one. Taken just before he went out West …
I MISS YOU SON.
I shall forever miss you.
“Until we stand side by side forever in our Valhalla, I will cry each night and sob silently each day.”
