The Father of Reggae Jimmy Cliff Passed Away Today

 The majority of people automatically assume that “Bob Marley” was the musician that introduced the world to reggae/ska music.

Truth be told, it was actually “James Chambers” aka “Jimmy Cliff” who Blessed the world with the introduction.

Sadly, Jimmy Cliff passed away today.

Jimmy was 81 years.

Born 30 July 1944.

Ascended 24 November 2025.

However, his music will be immotal.

A century from now someone somewhere will be listening to “The Harder They Come” or “I Can See Clearly Now”

Personally, my all-time favourite, beyond any doubt, is …

“Rebel In Me”

The lyrics of this classic song totally relate to one of the greatest loves in my life.

That one true love that even though circumstance has sent us down separate paths, the love we share we share still.

The eternal heartache of eternal heartbreak.

Everytime I hear “Rebel In Me” time pauses as memories of Maria flow through my soul like an Angel’s warm caress.

We all have certain songs that go beyond being mere music and become part of the roots of our emotions.

I am Blessed to have a number of Jimmy’s songs that go hand in hand with my deepest emotions.
