The Crisis In Canada's Medical And Healthcare Systems Are Solvable

 

The government has vowed and is in the process of expediting the procedure and processing of foreign medical professionals.

Many are here but forced to work entry level jobs due to having been educated outside of Canada.

I don’t understand why the process is so slow and tedious.

It should not take months, even years, to vet their credentials.

These professionals are trained in all fields of healthcare and diagnostics.

All of which are greatly needed.

Canada is experiencing a severe shortage of, not just surgeons and Physicians, but medical staff of all levels.

Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Personal Support Workers, Orderlies, Lab techs, Diagnostic Specialists and any of the many caregivers needed to provide proper healthcare.

Our greatest need is “Family Physicians” and “Emergency Department Doctors”.

Canada is at a never seen before “Crisis” level when it comes to Physicians in both these areas.

Thousands of Canadians have been without a family doctor for years.

This puts our Emergency Rooms under extreme pressure from overcrowding.

Overcrowding caused by families having no choice but to use the ER as their only choice for treatment.

This is due to the fact that many of our homegrown Family Doctors are now at retirement age.

The lack of University enrollment in the Family Medical sector adds to the shortage.

The younger doctors who chose to be Family Physicians or ER Doctors are burning out from their enormous caseloads.

Their salaries are far below the level of the average Surgeon or Specialist.

This has influenced the Medical Students to choose to study for careers in the Specialist sectors and not in Family medicine field.

Across the country Emergency Rooms are being closed completely or forced to shutter at night or over the weekends.

Many rural communities are now living with no access to Emergency treatment.

“Do you see the need to expedite the processing of our foreign educated medical professionals?”

It’s a matter of life and death!

I commend our powers that be for finally taking action and beginning the process of beginning the process.

However, they are not processing these much needed professionals anywhere nearly fast enough.

We cannot allow political paperwork and slow moving government departments to continue to cost Canadian lives!

I am beyond positive that many of these Physicians are more than qualified.

I am sure that in ninety percent of their cases their credentials would be easily vetted.

You do not get Doctorates in Community Colleges!

Universities, no matter what country they are located in, keep immaculate records.

I am not sure if the departments who are processing the vetting are bearing in mind that after being vetted and cleared to join our healthcare system these Physicians must attend further educational programs to learn the Canadian medical procedures.

The quicker their credentials are vetted then the sooner they can attend the necessary upgrading.

Which means the quicker they can Bless us with their professional abilities.

The sooner ER’s can return to 24 hour care.

Many, many, many of our rural communities have little or no access to any type of healthcare at all.

Which pressures patients into traveling long distances to obtain care.

No matter how severe the emergency may be.

In too many cases it leads to the loss of lives.

This is not a problem that only a handful of rural communities are experiencing.

No, not at all!

It is happening in every single rural remote region “all” across Canada

As embarrassing as it sounds these communities are living in Third World conditions as far as medical care is concerned.

Here we have a large number of qualified candidates who are willing to jump in and join our healthcare system asap.

Write, email and/or call your Premier’s Office, your local MP, your MPP and your provincial Physicians and Nurses Colleges and Associations, and politely “demand” they streamline the vetting of these much needed and very willing medical professionals.

It’s a matter of life and death!
